EFAM AWO DOVI: is a journalist and communications strategist. Efam has 20 years of international experience working in journalism, public information and communications. Efam is founder of Africa Media Empire, a multi media content development and communications agency. Her company has designed and implemented media campaigns for local and international clientele. That included a multi media in-flight campaign for North American Airlines. Her company is co-founder of ghanaoilonline.org.
Efam has worked in Africa, New York and UK in a multi cultural environment. Efam has extensive knowledge in Africa development issues and is a contributor to ‘UN Africa Renewal’ magazine. She is currently based in Ghana.
Efam’s experience in journalism spans print, radio, online and television. Her background includes working with the United Nations Headquarters in New York, occupying various public information and internal communications positions. In New York, Efam was Information Officer at the Africa Section where she specialised in analyzing and writing on Africa’s development economic issues. She was editor at the UN Secretariat’s internal communications unit, and contributed to the Secretariat’s internal communications strategy. Later she worked at the UN Office of Human Resources Management, producing and editing content for the UN Secretariat’s new online recruitment platform.
Efam has managed media entities and co-founded publications. She was managing editor of Ghana Review International magazine published in the U.K. for four years.
As an international journalist, Efam has written articles and produced radio and television content for international media organizations including VOA; Business Day in Johannesburg, SA; New Africa magazine in London and Radio Netherlands. She has traveled to other African countries on reporting assignments.
Efam started her journalism career with the Daily Graphic in Ghana and later became a correspondent for the African Observer magazine published in New York.
As a trainer, Efam was a resource person for UNDP sponsored training for journalists covering development issues as well as International Labour Organisation’s workshops on child labour.
